Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) renamed the Telugu Talli flyover as Telangana Talli flyover. Officials installed a new board and placed arches on both sides of the structure. The GHMC Council approved the change in its latest meeting.
Telangana Talli flyover carries new identity, old legacy
The then chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu built the flyover in 1997. Authorities created it to ease traffic between the Secretariat and Lower Tank Bund road. At that time, they named it Telugu Talli flyover.
The bridge connects Ashoknagar and Indiranagar areas with Secunderabad. It also eases congestion for motorists traveling from Liberty towards the Secretariat.
After Telangana’s formation, GHMC’s Standing Committee resolved to rename the structure. The new identity aligns the landmark with the state’s cultural pride.
