Hyderabad: Ten candidates filed nominations on the first day of notification for the Jubilee Hills by-election on Monday. Two were from registered political parties, while eight contested as independents.
Telangana Punarnirmana Samithi nominee Pusa Srinivas and Navataram Party candidate Arvapalli Srinivasa Rao filed their papers. The independent candidates were Siliveru Srikanth, Pesarakaya Parikshit Reddy, Chalika Chandrasekhar, Sapavat Suman, Vemula Vikram Reddy, Ibrahim Khan, Syed Mustafa Hussain, and Salman Khan.
Returning Officer P. Sairam accepted nominations from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Suman Nayak from Mathampalli in Suryapet district also entered the contest. He said he was protesting the government’s neglect of podu land titles and lack of tribal representation in the Cabinet. Nayak earlier contested the 2019 Huzurnagar by-election and polled 2,697 votes.
Election arrangements reviewed for Jubilee Hills by-election
District Election Officer R.V. Karnan inspected the returning officer’s office at the Shaikpet Tahsildar office hours before the notification. He instructed officials to ensure the nomination process followed all Election Commission of India (ECI) rules. Arrangements were completed to conduct the filing smoothly.
