Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) will soon add 275 electric buses to Hyderabad’s IT corridor, aiming to strengthen public transport for tech employees. The corridor already has 200 electric buses in service.
TGSRTC Managing Director V.C. Sajjanar announced the expansion during a stakeholder meeting on Monday evening. The session took place at the Tech Mahindra campus in HITEC City. TGSRTC hosted the event along with ASSOCHAM and the Telangana Facility Management Council (TFMC).
Sajjanar told software firm representatives that TGSRTC is aligning its services with the travel needs of IT employees. The corporation currently offers electric and Metro Deluxe buses on rental to IT companies. These rentals help ensure safe and direct commutes for workers.
“Private vehicle use is the main cause of traffic in the IT corridor,” Sajjanar said. “Public transport is the only long-term fix.” He urged IT companies to promote bus use and create employee awareness. He also encouraged them to consider offering incentives.
TGSRTC officials presented a detailed overview of existing transport services through a PowerPoint. IT company representatives gave feedback and suggestions. Senior TGSRTC officials said they would review those inputs.
Virtusa Vice President Krishna Edula, TFMC President Satyanarayana Madala, Tech Mahindra HR Head Vinay Agarwal, and RTC officials Muni Shekhar, Rajashekhar, and CTM Sridevi attended the event.
