HYDERABAD: A state-of-the-art cath lab and a 12-bed emergency care unit have been inaugurated at the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) Hospital in Tarnaka to provide advanced cardiac treatment for employees. The new facilities were launched by TGSRTC Managing Director VC Sajjanar on Friday.
The cath lab has been set up with the assistance of FACTS Foundation, while the critical cardiac care unit has been contributed by Ashok Leyland. The infrastructure expansion for the emergency unit was financially supported by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).
Speaking at the inauguration, VC Sajjanar emphasised that the health of TGSRTC employees—the organisation’s core strength—is essential for the corporation’s success. He said the Tarnaka Hospital has been developed into a super-speciality centre, unmatched by any other RTC-run hospital in the country.
He noted a sharp rise in outpatient numbers at the facility—from an average of 600 per day in 2021 to nearly 2,000 today—highlighting the growing trust in its services. Sajjanar expressed gratitude to representatives of IOCL, FACTS Foundation, and Ashok Leyland for their contributions in expanding medical services.
The hospital has recently added MRI and CT scan services, in addition to an upgraded emergency ward, 24/7 pharmacy, and physiotherapy unit. With the launch of the cath lab, the hospital now offers comprehensive medical care under one roof.
Sajjanar also highlighted the “Grand Health Challenge,” a health screening initiative conducted for TGSRTC employees and their families. Through this programme, medical profiles were prepared and critical conditions in nearly 900 individuals were identified and treated at the Tarnaka facility, saving lives.
He stated that TGSRTC is leveraging technology to enhance healthcare delivery and will continue to introduce new initiatives focused on employee wellness.
The event was attended by TGSRTC Executive Directors, Tarnaka Hospital Superintendent Dr Shailaja Murthy, Medical Administrator Dr Srinivas, IOCL representatives Saroj Kumar, Bhaskar Rao, and Kailas Kant, FACTS Foundation MD Srinivas Kumar, and Ashok Leyland officials Naresh Tiwari, Surya Narayan, and Ramesh Shastri.
