Hyderabad: Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) announced special arrangements for Rakhi Pournami to prevent inconvenience to passengers during the festive rush. As in previous years, the corporation has deployed additional buses to meet increased demand.
In line with a state government order, TGSRTC revised fares by up to 50% for special buses. The change applies only to these services. Regular buses will continue with normal charges. The revision will remain in force until August 11. For easy identification, display boards have been fixed on the front of all special buses.

The corporation said these services are arranged during major festivals to ensure safe travel and avoid overcrowding. On the return leg, buses from low-demand routes will be redeployed quickly to busy ones. The revision follows Government Order No. 16 of 2003, which permits adjustments based on diesel prices and operational costs.
Meanwhile, heavy passenger rush was reported across bus stations in Telangana. At Secunderabad’s Jubilee Bus Station (JBS), passengers waited for buses as TGSRTC operated special Rakhi services. Express buses were filled to capacity. Long queues formed for Andhra Pradesh-bound services.
TGSRTC advised passengers to avoid unsafe travel in private vehicles during the festival. Highlighting the experience of its drivers and conductors, the corporation urged travellers to choose RTC services for safe journeys. It also extended festive greetings to all passengers.
