Hyderabad: Two unidentified men stole valuables from two RTC buses parked near Uppal Metro Station, just a few metres from the Uppal Police Station. The incident took place past midnight when the Thorrur depot’s Super Luxury and Rajadhani buses halted for the night.
Thieves target RTC buses near Uppal Police Station
According to reports, the miscreants broke into the Super Luxury bus while its driver, Yakayya, was asleep. They took his bag, mobile phone, purse containing ₹5,000, ID card, and depot SR large sheet. Meanwhile, in the Rajadhani bus, driver Raju said the thieves removed the lock while he was resting.
Around 3 a.m., both drivers woke up and found their belongings missing. They rushed to the Uppal Police Station and filed complaints.
Police launch probe into Uppal bus theft
Uppal Police registered a case and began investigating the theft. Officers reviewed CCTV footage from the Uppal Metro Station and the ring road to trace the culprits.
RTC drivers said they had no restrooms near the night halt area. Therefore, they sleep inside their buses, leaving their belongings exposed. The theft, which occurred close to the police station, raised serious concerns about safety in the surrounding colonies and residential areas.
