Hyderabad: Thunderstorm alert Telangana as gusty winds, lightning expected statewide
The Telangana State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) issued a thunderstorm alert on Saturday afternoon, warning of lightning and gusty winds across all 33 districts of the state.
According to the alert, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and winds reaching 30–40 kmph are “very likely” to occur at isolated places until 8:30 AM on Monday, August 18.
The alert covers districts including Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Rangareddy, Warangal, Karimnagar, Nalgonda, Mahbubnagar, and Adilabad. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) classified the warning under “WATCH” severity with a “Very Likely” certainty level.
Officials advised the public to follow SDMA safety protocols and avoid open areas during lightning activity. Local authorities have been placed on alert to monitor the evolving weather conditions and respond as needed.
