Hyderabad: Forest officials on Friday confirmed the movement of a male tiger in the Sirikonda range of Nizamabad district, triggering concern in surrounding villages. Fresh pugmarks found near Mallam Kunta in the Tatipalli–Janegial bit area were identified as belonging to S12, a male tiger known to inhabit the Jannaram forest zone.
Officials said the tiger had moved from Jannaram through the Kodimyal range before entering Sirikonda. Public alerts were issued for residents in Kammar Palli and Sirikonda ranges, with the forest department urging caution and requesting any sightings or evidence of movement be reported immediately.
The incident adds to a series of tiger movements being reported across the undivided Adilabad district in recent weeks. Villagers say fear of attacks has disrupted daily routines, especially for farmers and labourers reluctant to enter fields.
In the Boath mandal’s Raghunathpur forest area, a tiger was recently spotted walking through the terrain by a group of youths, who promptly informed officials. Growing reports of tiger activity have heightened anxiety among rural populations in multiple forest-linked mandals.
