HYDERABAD: A confirmed tiger sighting in Telangana’s Jayashankar Bhupalpally district has raised concerns among residents, particularly in Kataram and Mahadevpur mandals. The Telangana Forest Department verified the presence of the big cat after identifying pugmarks and other signs in the region’s dense forest areas.
Following the sighting, forest officials have issued a public alert, advising villagers to avoid entering forested areas alone, especially during early mornings and late evenings. To monitor the tiger’s movements, teams have been deployed with camera traps and GPS tracking techniques. Wildlife experts suggest that the tiger may have migrated from Maharashtra or Chhattisgarh in search of food and territory. This sighting comes amid increasing reports of tiger activity in other districts, including Jagtial and Mancherial.
Local farmers, who often venture into the forest for cattle grazing and firewood collection, have been urged to take extra precautions. The Forest Department is also considering awareness programs to educate villagers on safety measures and strategies to prevent human-wildlife conflicts. Authorities are working closely with neighboring forest divisions to track the tiger’s movement, ensuring public safety while also protecting the animal’s natural habitat.
