Hyderabad: Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) president Prof. Kodandaram on Tuesday announced his party’s full support for the 42% BC quota in local body elections under GO 9.
Speaking to reporters at the TJS office in Nampally after meeting leaders of the BC Organisations JAC, Kodandaram said his party would actively take part in the Telangana bandh on October 18. The bandh, called by the BC JAC, seeks complete implementation of the reservation order.
TJS backs BC quota, calls for inclusion in Constitution’s Ninth Schedule
BC JAC chairman R. Krishniah, working chairman J. Srinivas Goud, and BC leader Nargoni joined the meeting. Kodandaram said TJS would continue to support all movements and campaigns led by BC organisations to ensure fair representation.
He accused the BJP and BRS of double standards—supporting the reservation bill in the Assembly but opposing its enforcement now.
Kodandaram demanded that the 42% BC reservation in education, employment, and local elections be added to the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution. He urged the central government to issue an ordinance for its immediate implementation.
