Hyderabad: Tolichowki police arrested a bike theft gang that targeted parked two-wheelers by breaking handle locks and starting the vehicles. South West Zone DCP Chandramohan disclosed details of the case on Wednesday.
Two arrested, five bikes recovered
Police said they apprehended one accused, Sankuru Vijayabhaskar Reddy (23) of Rampachodavaram, Andhra Pradesh, along with a 17-year-old minor. Five stolen two-wheelers worth about ₹4.5 lakh were recovered from their possession.
The investigation began after a Yamaha R15 parked in Samata Colony was reported stolen on September 7. On September 10, during vehicle checks at Tolichowki X-Roads, police intercepted the duo moving suspiciously.
The accused confessed to multiple thefts
Upon questioning, the suspects admitted to stealing the Yamaha bike along with four other two-wheelers using the same method. Police said the gang specifically targeted parked motorcycles, broke the handle locks, and rode away with them.
