Hyderabad: TPCC president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud on Sunday paid tributes to Indira Gandhi and Konda Laxman Bapuji, calling them symbols of sacrifice and justice.
At Necklace Road, he joined the golden jubilee celebrations organised by Telangana Banjara Bharati. The event marked 50 years since the Lambada community was recognised under Scheduled Tribe reservations. Goud garlanded Indira Gandhi’s statue and hailed her as the leader who enabled this crucial inclusion.
He praised Indira Gandhi as a bold reformer. Through the land ceiling act, she distributed land to the poor people. Goud said she fought for justice throughout her life and stood by marginalised communities.
TPCC calls for unity and condemns misinformation campaigns
Referring to Rahul Gandhi’s slogan, “equal share for equal numbers,” Goud said Congress remains committed to social equity. He noted that the party conducted a caste census to ensure fair political representation.
He assured that every section finds space within the Congress framework. Furthermore, he criticised opposition parties for misusing social media. “They are spreading falsehoods by morphing content and misleading the public,” he said.
Goud urged citizens not to fall for propaganda. He warned that such campaigns aim to divide and confuse voters.
Later, Goud offered floral tributes to Konda Laxman Bapuji at his statue on the same premises. He described Bapuji as Telangana’s iron man who gave up his ministry for statehood. According to Goud, Bapuji’s legacy is a guiding light for future leaders.
He also called on Backward Classes to unite. “We have reached a point where we can claim our rightful share,” he declared.
Ministers Vivek Venkataswamy, Deputy Speaker Ramachandra Naik, War Room in-charge Anusha, former MP Ravinder Naik, and several BC leaders participated in the event.
