HYDERABAD: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Mahesh Kumar Goud participated as the chief guest at the Telangana State Arekatika Mahasabha held at Ravindra Bharathi. In his address, he reaffirmed the Congress Party’s commitment to social justice and its support for backward and weaker sections of society.
Mahesh Kumar Goud highlighted that the Arekatika community played a significant role in bringing the Congress government to power in Telangana. He stated that justice for marginalized communities is possible only through the Congress Party, and Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra was undertaken with this very goal in mind.
Discussing the need for a caste census, he emphasized that its implementation is essential to ensuring that development benefits reach backward classes (BCs). He praised the Revanth Reddy-led government for conducting a caste-based enumeration survey, aligning with Rahul Gandhi’s vision. According to him, this initiative will cement Rahul Gandhi’s legacy in the hearts of BC communities.
The TPCC chief assured the Arekatika community that they will receive due political representation in the upcoming elections. He promised that the Congress Party will always stand with Arekatikas and encouraged them to rise to positions of leadership, including contesting for MLA seats. He also reiterated the party’s efforts to establish an Arekatika Corporation and pledged to discuss the demand for shifting Arekatikas from the BC-D to BC-A category.
Expressing strong criticism of the BJP, he questioned why Bandi Sanjay was removed from his position as BJP state president, despite being a leader from the BC community. He challenged Telangana BJP leaders to support the caste census and demand the same from the central government during the national census.
Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Congress MLA Malreddy Rangareddy, corporation chairpersons, and senior Congress leaders were also present at the event.
