Hyderabad: Expect detours, delays, and packed streets across the Old City on Tuesday as the Hyderabad leg of Miss World 2025 rolls into Charminar.
To accommodate the “72nd Miss World Heritage Walk” and a welcome dinner at Chowmahalla Palace, traffic movement will be restricted from 2 PM to 11 PM on 13 May across key heritage routes.
No vehicles will be allowed from Madina to Charminar, Charminar to Shalibanda, Rajesh Medical Hall to Volga Junction, or from Volga to Moosabowli via Khilwat Road. Diversions will be enforced at multiple junctions:
Madina Junction – Vehicles from Nayapool to Charminar redirected towards City College.
Himmatpura – Traffic from Shalibanda/Nagulchintha diverted via Haribowli to Volga Junction and on to Fateh Darwaza Road.
Volga Junction – Entry to Chowmahalla blocked; traffic looped towards Fateh Darwaza and back toward Himmatpura.
Moosabowli – Vehicles from Puranapool (near Goodwill Café) won’t get through to Charminar—rerouted via Doodhbowli to City College or Fateh Darwaza.
Chowk Maidan Kaman – No passage to Charminar. Redirected to Kotla Alija or Moghalpura.
Etebar Chowk – Flow towards Gulzar House stopped, traffic pushed to Mandi Mir Alam or Bibi Bazaar.
Sher-e-Baitul Kaman – No entry from Mitti ka Sher to Gulzar House; diversion via Ghansi Bazaar to High Court Road.
Lakkad Kote – Vehicles coming from APAT side turned towards the Old CP office lane and Mir Alam Mandi, if needed.
RTC buses won’t be spared either. All city buses heading to Charminar will terminate at Afzalgunj. Those from Falaknuma will be pulled up at Shamsheergunj and rerouted towards Tadban. District-bound buses via Madina and Nayapool from MGBS will take the long road: Chaderghat → Nalgonda Crossroads → Chanchalguda → Saidabad → IS Sadan → DMRL → Midhani → MBNR Flyover → Bandlaguda → Aramghar.
Gridlock is likely across Puranapool Darwaza, MJ Bridge, Nayapool, Dewan Devdi, Madina X Road, Mandi Kaman, Kali Kaman, Himmatpura, Volga Junction, and Aliabad. Traffic cops have marked them as congestion hotspots from 2 PM onwards.
Commuters are advised to detour early and plan ahead. For live updates, check @HYDTP on Facebook or X. For urgent route help, the traffic helpline 9010203626 will stay active through the day.
