Traffic diversions in Hyderabad for Bathukamma carnival on September 27

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Traffic Police has announced major traffic diversions on September 27 for the Bathukamma carnival at Upper Tank Bund. These restrictions will remain in force from 2 PM to 11 PM.

Heavy traffic is expected around Upper Tank Bund and Necklace Road. Authorities will either halt or reroute vehicles based on real-time congestion.

Hyderabad traffic diversions Bathukamma: key routes affected

The Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) outlined the following diversions:

1. Tank Bund closed: Traffic from Telugu Thalli Junction and Karbala Maidan will not be allowed towards Tank Bund.
2. Flyover detour: Vehicles from Iqbal Minar will be diverted through Telugu Thalli flyover, Katta Maisamma, DBR Mills, Indira Park, Gandhinagar, and RTC X Roads.
3. NTR Marg restricted: Traffic from VV Statue will turn at Necklace Rotary towards Prasads IMAX and Mint Compound Lane.
4. Nallagutta diversion: Vehicles heading to Buddha Bhavan must reroute via Ranigunj and Necklace Road.
5. Liberty rerouting: Vehicles from Liberty to Tank Bund will go via Ambedkar Statue, Iqbal Minar, and Telugu Thalli Flyover.
6. Secunderabad traffic shifted: Vehicles will divert at Karbala Maidan via Bible House, Kawadiguda, Goshala, and Bandamaisamma.
7. No entry from Musheerabad: Vehicles from Musheerabad and Kawadiguda must divert at DBR Mills towards Dhobhi Ghat and Indira Park.

RTC buses to follow alternate routes

All inter-district RTC buses heading from Secunderabad to MGBS will reroute via Sweekar–Upakar Junction, Mettuguda, Tarnaka, Nallakunta, Barkatpura, and Chaderghat.

City buses will follow diversions through Bible House, Jabbar Complex, Kawadiguda, and Bandamaisamma before merging back via Telugu Thalli Flyover.

Citizens advised to avoid busy junctions

The traffic police urged commuters to stay away from high-congestion areas, including:

VV Statue, Khairatabad, Saifabad, Iqbal Minar, Telugu Thalli Junction, Necklace Rotary, Liberty, Ravindra Bharati, Ambedkar Statue, Tank Bund, Kawadiguda, Katta Maisamma, Karbala Maidan, Ranigunj, and Nallagutta.
