Hyderabad: A batch of 170 trainee IPS officers from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy visited the Telangana State Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGICCC) in Hyderabad on Saturday. The visit formed part of their field exposure programme.
During their interaction, Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand briefed them on festival security operations. He shared lessons from his decade-long experience in the city and mentioned that this is his 13th time overseeing Ganesh bandobust, and fourth as Commissioner.
Hyderabad’s festival security strategy shared
Anand described Hyderabad as a sensitive and diverse city that demands tight coordination during festivals. He stated that around 25,000 Ganesh idols are expected to be immersed on the final day of Ganesh Utsav. Managing such a large event, he said, requires prioritising public safety at every level.
He delivered a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation, explaining the police’s planning, tactical deployment, and crowd control strategies. He cited Ganesh Utsav, Milad-un-Nabi, Bonalu, Dussehra Navaratri, Hanuman Rally, and Sriram Navami as major operational priorities.
Tech-led policing at the command centre
Anand outlined how technology supports their strategy. He highlighted the use of online permission forms, idol geotagging, drones, surveillance apps, and a citywide CCTV network. According to him, the TGICCC plays a crucial role by enabling real-time coordination among multiple agencies.
Senior police officials Ram Nivas Sepat (DIG and Deputy Director, Basic Course-2), Kalmeshwar Singenwar (Assistant Director of Training), and Pushpa (DCP, IT Cell) also attended the session.
