Hyderabad: In a sweeping two-day crackdown across Telangana, transport department teams booked 198 cases and seized 153 school buses for various violations. The inspections were carried out on Thursday and Friday, according to Joint Transport Commissioner (Vigilance & Enforcement) M Chandrasekhar Goud.
Hyderabad topped the list for violations, with officials filing 42 cases and impounding 33 buses. while Rangareddy district matched the number of cases at 42 but saw 43 buses seized. In Medchal-Malkajgiri, authorities registered 21 cases and pulled 18 buses off the road.
Issuing a stern warning to school administrations, Chandrasekhar Goud called for immediate compliance with vehicle fitness standards. He warned that any lapse would attract strict action. He underlined that keeping school buses roadworthy isn’t optional — it’s mandatory to ensure student safety.
