Hyderabad, February 7: Tensions escalated in Roti Banda Thanda in Kodangal constituency as tribal residents, led by women, protested against a land survey conducted for an upcoming industrial corridor. The demonstration erupted when revenue officials arrived to assess land for the project, triggering resistance from locals who claimed they were not consulted.
Many tribals, dependent on agriculture for their livelihood, fear displacement and the loss of ancestral lands. Women led the protest, physically blocking officials and holding placards while raising slogans asserting their right to the land. Protesters demanded government intervention to halt the project.
The industrial corridor, which includes areas such as Lagcherla, has faced opposition in other regions as well. Protesters insist they have lived on the land for generations and possess legal rights over it. They accused the administration of attempting to push the project forward without obtaining their consent.
Local leaders and activists have urged authorities to hold discussions with the affected communities before proceeding further. Meanwhile, officials stated that they are following due process and assured that concerns would be addressed.
