Hyderabad: TSRTC honoured four employees on Independence Day for combining public service with social commitment. The awards were presented during a ceremony held at Bus Bhavan on Friday.
Managing Director V C Sajjanar led the proceedings by hoisting the national flag. He paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, B R Ambedkar, Bhagat Singh, Subhas Chandra Bose, and other national icons. Following the tribute, he presented commendation certificates to A Anitha, P Satyanarayana, B Ramulu, and M Ramulu.
During his address, Sajjanar extended Independence Day wishes to employees and passengers. He urged citizens to take inspiration from freedom fighters and actively contribute to nation-building.
He recalled TSRTC’s role in the Telangana movement, especially protests like “Bus Ka Pahiya Nahi Chalega.” Applauding the dedication of the staff, he said their sense of ownership drives the corporation forward. According to him, recognising socially committed employees encourages a culture of service across the organisation.
Each awardee stood out for long-term contributions. Conductor A Anitha and her husband Ravichander have held blood donation drives for thalassemia patients, helping 248 children. Her work earned her the Best Volunteer Award five times from the state.
Meanwhile, store attendant P Satyanarayana planted over one lakh saplings in Karimnagar over the past decade. The forest department acknowledged his efforts with the Haritha Mitra Award.
Deputy superintendent B Ramulu and his wife run the Rajeshwari Social Service Society, which provides care for orphans and people with disabilities. He partially funds the initiative through his own salary.
In another example, driver M Ramulu established the Mahakavi Sinare Kalapeetham to support poets and promote road safety. Since 2001, he has also supported poor and orphaned students by adopting his former school and covering their education costs.
The event also saw the participation of EDs Munishekhar and Venkanna, CTMs Sridhar and Sridevi, CPM Ushadevi, and CCOs Prabhulatha, among other senior officials.
