Hyderabad: Police arrested two auto drivers on charges of gang rape, torture, and murder of a woman at Kismatpur under the Rajendranagar police limits. The Special Operations Team (SOT) traced the accused using CCTV footage and confirmed their involvement in the September 17 crime.
Locals found the woman’s body under the Kismatpur bridge on September 17. They alerted police, who shifted the remains to Osmania General Hospital for post-mortem. Forensic doctors reported sexual assault, severe genital injuries, and signs that the killing took place two to three days earlier.
CCTV trail led police to the accused
Investigators reviewed CCTV footage on routes leading to Kismatpur. The video showed an auto rickshaw heading towards the bridge on the night of September 14. Further checks revealed that the vehicle had picked up the victim earlier that afternoon near the Hyderguda Kallu compound. Police established that the woman had travelled from Yakutpura to Hyderguda before the crime.
The auto’s registration number led officers to two drivers from Tolichowki. Both confessed to abducting the victim, raping her, and killing her. Police also confirmed that the Yakutpura police had registered a missing persons case relating to the woman.
According to the investigation, the woman had consumed liquor at the Hyderguda Kallu compound on September 14. She collapsed on the roadside under the influence. The accused found her, forced her into an auto, and took her towards Kismatpur through Budvel. At a deserted spot, they consumed liquor, assaulted her, and later killed her when she resisted.
SOT officers arrested the accused and handed them over to the Rajendranagar police for further investigation.
