HYDERABAD: The Excise police arrested two individuals involved in smuggling ganja from Odisha and selling it in Hyderabad. The operation was carried out under surveillance, leading to the seizure of 2.3 kg of ganja.
According to Shamshabad Assistant Excise Superintendent Srinivas Reddy, the accused were identified as Pradeep Kumar and Gajanlal, both residents of Bihar. The two friends were initially working as daily wage laborers, but due to financial difficulties, they turned to illegal ganja trade to make quick money.
As per the investigation, Gajanlal was responsible for procuring ganja from Odisha and supplying it to Pradeep Kumar in Hyderabad. Pradeep then packaged it into small sachets and sold it to local retail shops for ₹150 per packet.
Acting on reliable information, Excise Superintendent Krishna Priya directed a team led by Assistant Superintendent Srinivas Reddy, including Inspector Praveen Kumar, Sub-Inspector Srikanth Reddy, and officers Fakhruddin, Mallesh, Nehru, Ganesh, Nikhil, and Sai Shankar. The team conducted raids at Aramghar Crossroads, where they apprehended Gajanlal and Pradeep Kumar and seized 2.3 kg of ganja from their possession.
A case has been registered against them, and further investigation is underway.
