Hyderabad: Police arrested two drug peddlers in Old Bowenpally with 1.77 kg of hash oil worth ₹8.95 lakh. The joint operation was conducted by the Commissioner’s Task Force East Zone team and Bowenpally Police.
The accused are fruit vendor Sahoo Sonu (31) of Anjaiah Nagar, Old Bowenpally, and Flipkart delivery boy Bandari Ravi Teja (20) of LB Nagar. Officers caught them near Gate-II of ICRISAT Phase-2, Krishna Nagar, Secunderabad, on August 11. They also seized a mobile phone from the duo.
Two hash oil peddlers nabbed in Hyderabad
Both men have earlier cases under the NDPS Act. Sonu was involved in a 2023 Bowenpally narcotics case. Ravi Teja faced two earlier cases in Bowenpally and Alwal, one involving drugs and another on separate criminal charges.
According to police, Sonu, Ravi Teja, and absconding accused Giri are habitual drug users. Giri brought ganja and hash oil from Rajesh in Andhra Pradesh and supplied it to them. The duo sold the oil in small quantities for profit while keeping some for personal use.
On August 11, they waited near Gate-II to deliver hash oil to customers. Acting on a tip-off, the Task Force team moved in and caught them with the contraband.
Inspector A. Nagarjuna of the East Zone Task Force supervised the operation. Sub-Inspectors M. Anantha Chary, P. Nagaraju, and S. Karunakar Reddy, along with Bowenpally Police, took part in the arrest.
Police placed both men in custody and launched a search for Giri and Rajesh.
