London, January 7: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has responded to recent allegations made by Elon Musk, criticising the spread of misinformation. Without directly naming Musk, Starmer stated during a press conference, “Those who spread lies and misinformation have no interest in the victims; they are only interested in themselves.”
Starmer also defended his record as Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) between 2008 and 2013, claiming that he oversaw the first cases filed against grooming gangs during his tenure. He emphasised that every case he pursued resulted in court proceedings and adequate actions.
The comments come in the wake of Musk’s accusations against the Labour government, claiming it failed to act decisively against child grooming gangs. Musk alleged that Starmer, as head of the investigation committee at the time, refused to approve prosecutions against the accused.
Musk further escalated his criticism, accusing Starmer of continuing to “cover up” such issues as Prime Minister. On social media, Musk even called for King Charles to dismiss Starmer from his position and demanded that Starmer be sent to jail.
The allegations have sparked a heated debate, with Starmer strongly defending his professional integrity and role in handling grooming gang cases during his tenure at the Crown Prosecution Service. Meanwhile, Musk’s comments have added fuel to political and social discussions in the UK.
