Hyderabad: The state government has suspended Uppal Circle Inspector Election Reddy after it was found he leaked confidential CID information to Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) General Secretary Devaraju in connection with the ongoing HCA scam probe.
The CID has now laid the groundwork for Devaraju’s arrest, citing collusion with Election Reddy to obstruct the investigation. The officer’s suspension follows evidence that he tipped off Devaraju in advance of agency actions.
Meanwhile, the Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) has lodged another complaint with CID, seeking a broader inquiry into political involvement in HCA irregularities. TCA representatives met with CID Additional DG Charu Sinha, naming BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao and MLC K. Kavitha in their complaint.
The association alleged that both were connected to financial and procedural violations within HCA. Other names cited include John Manoj, Vijayanand, Purushottam Agarwal, Surender Agarwal, and Vanka Pratap.
This follows the recent arrest of HCA president Jaganmohan Rao over irregularities related to the association’s dealings with IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Others arrested include treasurer Srinivas Rao, Seetame Sunil, Srichakra Cricket Club General Secretary Rajender Yadav, and Club President Kavita. CID found Jaganmohan Rao had assumed his position through irregular means.
The Malkajgiri court has remanded all accused to twelve days’ custody as the investigation continues.
