HYDERABAD: Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Sunday reaffirmed the Congress Government’s unwavering commitment to the Telangana real estate sector, promising comprehensive support to builders at the first Annual General Meeting of the Cyberabad Builders Association (CBA), held at HICC Novotel.

Addressing a hall full of builders, developers, and stakeholders, the Minister dismissed concerns over a slowdown in construction activity as exaggerated. He assured that the Congress government would drive a real estate boom in Hyderabad and its surrounding regions. “We are meeting at a crucial time. Many of you are anxious about the future. Let me assure you categorically that the present Congress Government in Telangana is completely committed to supporting building and construction activity not only in Hyderabad and Cyberabad but across the entire state,” he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy promised that the government would intervene wherever necessary to resolve issues faced by builders, whether related to government departments or other agencies, to ensure smooth operations and significant business growth. “We want every builder to benefit from the growth of Hyderabad and particularly the Cyberabad region,” he added.

Recalling the legacy of past Congress administrations, the Minister cited key infrastructure achievements such as the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, the Outer Ring Road, the PV Narasimha Rao Expressway, the Metro Rail network, and major water supply projects from the Krishna and Godavari rivers—all executed under Congress rule. “This is global standard infrastructure, and it is what made Hyderabad one of the fastest-growing cities not just in India, but in the world,” he stated.

Reiterating Hyderabad’s advantages – moderate climate, cosmopolitan culture, and a business-friendly environment—Uttam Kumar Reddy assured the builders that the Congress Government would preserve and enhance this ecosystem. “Whether it is about law and order, social harmony, or policy support—we stand with you in making Hyderabad and Cyberabad grow even faster,” he said.

The Minister also highlighted new initiatives to reinforce Hyderabad’s water infrastructure, assuring that despite challenges, there would be no water shortage in Hyderabad or Cyberabad, thanks to ongoing efforts to bring additional supply from the Krishna and Godavari rivers.

Addressing urban traffic congestion, he noted the rapid expansion of the Metro Rail network to improve city mobility. Referring to the presence of global technology giants like Amazon and Google in the region, he said, “Cyberabad will develop as the Silicon Valley of Asia—there is no doubt in my mind.”

Uttam Kumar Reddy emphasised that Hyderabad is increasingly attracting global investors to its real estate and construction sectors. He spoke about the launch of a Skill University – one of its kind in the country – and the proposed “Future City” as part of the government’s broader development strategy.

He also highlighted the ambitious Musi River Rejuvenation project, drawing comparisons with successful riverfront transformations like the Thames in London, the Seine in Paris, and the Han River in Seoul. “Once completed, Hyderabad will be on par with any global city,” he said.

Promising global standards, a strong law and order framework, and ease of doing business, the Minister assured CBA members of sustained support. “You can look forward to a growing and profitable future. We treat you not just as builders, but as our partners in progress,” he said, repeating the sentiment in Telugu, which received applause from the audience.

He concluded by stating that Hyderabad and Cyberabad are on the verge of a real estate boom. “In a year or two, I am confident that all the projects undertaken by the builders and CBA will bear fruit. The doors of the government are always open to address any of your concerns,” he said.

The AGM concluded on an optimistic note, with members of the builder community expressing confidence in the government’s commitment and Hyderabad’s evolving status as a global investment destination.

The interest of global investors in Hyderabad’s real estate and construction sector was growing, and the Congress Government was creating the right ecosystem to attract these investments.
