Hyderabad: Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday pitched Telangana and Hyderabad as ideal destinations for global investment, during talks with Denmark’s Ambassador to India, Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen.
The meeting, held at the minister’s camp office in Kundan Bagh, focused on key sectors including clean energy, IT, dairy, agriculture, water management, and pharmaceuticals.
Telangana pitches green energy, IT and dairy
Uttam Kumar Reddy said Telangana, India’s youngest state, was among the fastest-growing in the country. He highlighted its double-digit economic growth, top-ranking per capita income, and steady foreign investment inflows.
The state aims to become a $1 trillion economy within the next decade. The minister invited Denmark to participate in this growth journey, especially in sustainable technologies.
He described Hyderabad as the “vaccine capital” and an emerging “Silicon Valley of the East.” The city hosts global pharma exporters and major data centres for Amazon and Microsoft. He added that new industrial and data corridors, powered fully by renewables, were being planned outside the Outer Ring Road. The vision, he said, is to make Hyderabad India’s first net-zero city.
In agriculture, Telangana leads as the country’s top rice producer and one of the largest dairy contributors. The minister invited Danish firms to explore partnerships in dairy exports, food processing, and climate-smart farming. He also noted that 84% of Telangana’s farmers were now debt-free due to loan waivers and free power.
Danish envoy praises Telangana as investment hub
Ambassador Kristensen praised Telangana’s green initiatives and rising status as an investment hub. He said Denmark’s “Impact Fund,” backed by pension assets and state guarantees, was already investing in clean energy projects across the state.
He added that Hyderabad is emerging as a viable alternative to Bengaluru for global capability centres. Citing existing operations like Carlsberg’s brewery and Novo Nordisk’s crop research, he confirmed Denmark’s strong interest in Telangana’s irrigation and water management sectors.
Kristensen stated that the Danish Embassy would coordinate with the state to identify bankable projects under the India-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership.
Minister Reddy assured full government support for Danish investors. He promised concessional land, assured water supply, and policy assistance. He also invited the ambassador to explore Telangana’s tourism and heritage sites and commended Denmark’s global record on peace and human rights.
