VIJAYAWADA: The High Court has rejected the anticipatory bail petition filed by former Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi in connection with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) office attack case.
Vamsi had approached the court seeking bail after being accused of involvement in the attack. Three days ago, he was arrested on allegations of kidnapping a Dalit man named Satyavardhan. Following his arrest, he was remanded to judicial custody and is currently lodged at the Vijayawada Sub-Jail.
Two days ago, YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy met Vamsi in jail. Jagan alleged that the government was targeting Vamsi out of political vendetta.
Despite his application for bail in the TDP office attack case, the High Court dismissed his plea today, dealing a legal setback to the former legislator.
