Hyderabad: A 27-year-old man ended his life in Vanaparthi district on Monday after reportedly consuming pesticide over mounting debt and health issues.
According to Pebberu SI Yugandhar Reddy, the deceased, Revant Kumar, hailed from P. Kothapalli village in Gooty mandal of Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district. On July 14, he travelled to Nizamabad in a Bolero vehicle carrying a load of red chillies.
The next evening, around 7:30 p.m., he video-called his younger brother Kiran Kumar, informed him of his intent to die, and instructed him to clear his debts by selling their land. He mentioned that he had recorded all loan details in a notebook left at home.
During the call, he urged his brother to take care of their mother and then drank pesticide on camera. His location appeared to be near Pebberu, prompting the family to alert local police.
Officers traced the Bolero to the Kothakota bypass and found Revant dead inside. Based on a complaint from Kiran Kumar, a case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
