Hyderabad: Passengers travelling between Telangana and Bengaluru will see easier reservations on the Vande Bharat Express, with the number of coaches on the Kacheguda-Yeshwantpur route now doubled.
South Central Railway has announced that the Vande Bharat train will run with 16 coaches instead of 8 from July 10. The seat capacity will increase from 530 to 1,128, according to Zone CPRO Ch Sridhar.
The number of chair car coaches has been increased from 7 to 14, while the executive class coaches have gone from one to two. The Vande Bharat Express on this route was virtually flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 24, 2023.
Railway authorities said the occupancy rate on this train has consistently exceeded 100 per cent, prompting the decision to expand capacity.
The train halts at Mahbubnagar in Telangana and Kurnool, Anantapur, and Dharmavaram in Andhra Pradesh.
