Hyderabad: Senior IPS officer V.C. Sajjanar has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police for Hyderabad. The state government announced the appointment on Saturday, transferring the current Police Commissioner, C.V. Anand, to the post of Special Chief Secretary in the Home Department.
A 1996-batch IPS officer, Sajjanar began his career in the Andhra Pradesh cadre before moving to the Telangana cadre after bifurcation. His initial postings as Assistant Superintendent of Police were in Jangaon (Warangal district) and Pulivendula (Kadapa district).

Sajjanar has served as Superintendent of Police in several key districts including Nalgonda, Kadapa, Guntur, Warangal, and Medak. He also held key roles such as SP of the Economic Offences Wing in the CID, SP of the elite anti-terror unit OCTOPUS, and Commandant of APSP’s 6th Battalion in Mangalagiri.
After promotions to DIG and then IG rank, he worked in the Intelligence department until 2018. He served as Commissioner of Police for Cyberabad between March 2018 and August 2021, gaining recognition for handling law and order effectively during a critical period.
In September 2021, he was appointed Managing Director of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), a post he held until this latest assignment.
