HYDERABAD, February 10: Police arrested Veera Raghava Reddy on Monday, the main accused in the assault on C.S. Rangarajan, Chief Priest of Chilkur Balaji Temple in Ranga Reddy district. Alongside Reddy, five other individuals were taken into custody in connection with the incident.
The attack, which came to light recently, involved approximately 20 individuals who allegedly confronted Rangarajan at his residence, demanding his support for the establishment of ‘Rama Rajya.’ Upon his refusal, they reportedly assaulted him. Rangarajan’s father, Soundar Rajan, filed a complaint with the police, leading to the identification and arrest of Veera Raghava Reddy as the primary suspect.
Investigations revealed that Reddy had a prior case registered against him at the Abids Police Station in 2015. Authorities are currently searching for the remaining individuals involved in the assault.
The incident has drawn widespread condemnation from various political leaders, including Union Minister Bandi Sanjay, BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao, and Congress ministers. They have all called for strict action against the perpetrators, emphasizing that such acts of violence are unacceptable.
