HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy laid the foundation stone for the Veeranari Chakali Ilamma Women’s University campus in Hyderabad on Saturday. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized that naming the university after Veeranari Chakali Ilamma was a significant tribute to Telangana’s history and the spirit of women’s empowerment.
The Chief Minister stated that the newly established women’s university should aim to compete with reputed institutions at the international level. He encouraged students to excel in various fields, aligning with former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s vision of progress and development.
Highlighting upcoming electoral reforms, CM Revanth Reddy announced that a 33 percent reservation for women in elections would be implemented soon. He expressed hope that students from the university would take advantage of this reservation and actively participate in governance and leadership roles.
The Chief Minister praised women’s capabilities in leadership, urging them to prove their sincerity and serve as role models in society. He also acknowledged the government’s ongoing efforts to support women, including free bus travel for women and empowering women’s self-help groups to manage government schools.

Encouraging students to break societal barriers, CM Revanth Reddy stated that girls should not be confined to the kitchen and assured that the state government was committed to fostering women entrepreneurs. He mentioned that specific action plans were in place to enable women’s groups to compete with major business entities like Adani and Ambani.
Emphasizing the need for swift construction, the Chief Minister directed officials to complete the university building within two and a half years, ensuring that there would be no shortage of funds for the project. He urged students to focus on their education and bring laurels to the state and the country.
