Hyderabad: Former Minister and MLA Vemula Prashanth Reddy on Friday lashed out at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accusing him of misleading the Backward Classes (BCs) and insulting former CM KCR with hollow statements.
Reacting to the CM’s remarks on the BC Bill and his predecessor, Prashanth Reddy said Congress used the promise of 42% BC reservation to win votes in the assembly elections, only to abandon the issue later. He called the party’s actions a “daily drama” and said the Kamareddy BC Declaration was part of a larger deception.
He criticised the Congress for staging what he called a “fake protest” in Delhi, alternating between calling it a resolution, a bill, and an ordinance. Reddy questioned why senior Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge, failed to attend the protest, despite being nearby.
“Is the Congress waiting for Rahul Gandhi to become Prime Minister before implementing BC reservations? Will local body elections be delayed till then?” he asked.
He said the BC community would soon expose the Congress party’s betrayal in the upcoming elections. Reddy added that KCR was preparing to bring Telangana back on course after what he described as the state’s decline under Revanth Reddy’s rule.
