HYDERABAD: BRS leader and former minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy has strongly criticized Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and the Congress government, accusing them of disrespecting KCR and breaking democratic traditions.
Prashanth Reddy highlighted that K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) fought for 14 years to achieve Telangana and later served as Chief Minister for a decade, positioning the state at the forefront of the nation. He condemned Revanth Reddy’s remarks, stating that they brought disgrace to Telangana.
Allegations of Bias and BJP Influence
The BRS leader accused Revanth Reddy of favoring the BJP while deliberately disrespecting KCR. He emphasized that in a democracy, both the Chief Minister and the Leader of the Opposition hold significant positions, but the Congress government has shown clear bias against KCR.
Denial of Opposition Leader’s Rights
Prashanth Reddy alleged that the Congress government failed to allocate a proper chamber to KCR as the Leader of the Opposition, describing it as an act of political vendetta.
He also criticized the government for breaking parliamentary traditions by appointing the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Chairman without consulting the opposition leader. He pointed out that it is a longstanding practice to appoint a PAC Chairman recommended by the Leader of the Opposition, which Congress ignored.
Prashanth Reddy accused the Congress government of violating democratic norms and stated that the BRS would continue to fight against such unfair practices.
