Hyderabad: Indian Americans turned out in large numbers in Edison, New Jersey, to join the Viksit Bharat Run a patriotic event celebrating India’s progress and diaspora pride.
Sai Datta Peetham organized the event in collaboration with Shri Shiva Vishnu Temple, with support from the Consulate General of India in New York. The run began at the temple’s Oak Tree Road parking lot, symbolizing India’s unity and aspirations to become a $30 trillion economy.
Participants wore “Viksit Bharat” T-shirts and ran with visible enthusiasm. Deputy Consul General Vishal Jayeshbhai Harsh planted a tree in the temple garden to mark the occasion, symbolizing growth and sustainability.
Viksit Bharat Run highlights Indo-US unity and diaspora strength
Many prominent community leaders attended the event. Notable guests included Deputy Consul General Vishal Harsh, former New Jersey Deputy Speaker Upendra Chivukula, and temple chairman Raghu Sharma Shankaramanchi. Community leaders such as Krishna Reddy Anugul, Vilas Jambul, and Damu Geddela also joined.
Representatives from major Indian organizations including TANA, ATA, NATS, TTA, MATA, TIFAS, and HSS participated as well. Their presence highlighted the collective strength and unity of the Indian-American community.
Speakers commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. They emphasized landmark initiatives such as Startup India, Digital India, UPI, Make in India, and Fit India. These programs, they said, reflect India’s transformation and global positioning.
Moreover, the event reinforced the growing partnership between India and the United States. Speakers stressed the need to deepen strategic and cultural ties, especially with active diaspora engagement.
Women joined in large numbers, making the run inclusive and representative. Sai Datta Peetham arranged breakfast for all participants. Anchors Preeti and Neelima kept the energy high throughout the event.
