Hyderabad: The Warangal Congress unit is witnessing a serious internal feud as Minister Konda Surekha and East Warangal MLA Naini Rajender Reddy trade sharp allegations. Their clash over Bhadrakali Temple committee appointments has now spiraled into personal attacks and party-level complaints.
Naini questions Konda’s authority over temple body
MLA Naini Rajender Reddy accused Minister Konda Surekha of bypassing him in appointing the Bhadrakali Temple governing committee. He objected to the process being carried out without informing the local MLA. In a direct challenge, he asked if holding the Endowments portfolio gave her unchecked powers.
He warned her not to take unilateral decisions. “What is the use of being an MLA if everything is done behind my back?” he asked. According to him, the minister was provoking a confrontation and testing his patience. He has since filed a formal complaint with TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud.
“I’d be a five-time MLA if I jumped parties”
In a video released later, Naini responded to Surekha’s earlier remark that he won the 2023 election due to luck. He took a dig at her history of frequent party changes. “If I kept switching parties like her, I’d be a five-time MLA by now,” he said.
He added that she often acted as if her decisions were always correct. Naini also questioned her interference in affairs outside her ministerial duties.
Surekha fires back: “He was lucky to win”
Konda Surekha shot back, saying she didn’t intend to comment but had to react to Naini’s remarks. She said it was disappointing to see someone she once supported as MLA now turning against her.
Defending her move, she clarified that she appointed two trustees to the temple body based on names proposed by the party’s top leadership. As Endowments Minister, she claimed the action was fully within her rights. Expressing frustration, she said it was unfair to question her authority in such matters.
She rejected Naini’s criticisms and said she would not respond further.
Congress leadership faces internal strife
What started as a row over temple appointments has now exposed deeper cracks in the Warangal Congress. Both leaders continue to escalate the situation, creating discomfort within party ranks. At a time when internal unity is vital for governance and local progress, the ongoing feud has become a political liability.
