WARANGAL: Tension gripped the Warangal-Nekkonda highway on Tuesday as locals staged a protest against land evictions linked to the Mamnoor Airport expansion project. The demonstrators, who identified themselves as affected landowners, blocked the highway, demanding adequate compensation and rehabilitation.
According to sources, the government has initiated land acquisition for the expansion of Mamnoor Airport. However, many residents expressed dissatisfaction, alleging that they were not given fair compensation and that there was a lack of transparency in the process.
Police were deployed to control the situation and restore traffic movement. Officials engaged with the protesters and assured them that their concerns would be addressed.
Further discussions between the affected landowners and government representatives are expected in the coming days to resolve the issue. The protests highlight the growing discontent over land acquisition policies and the demand for fair rehabilitation measures.
