Hyderabad: Kamareddy police have arrested three individuals, including a woman, for robbing a man by luring him into offering a lift. The accused reportedly employed the same modus operandi in earlier cases across other districts.
According to ASP Chaitanya Reddy, the incident occurred on July 19 when Sarl Chinna Gangayya from Chintamanupalli village in Domakonda mandal was returning home after work in Kamareddy. A woman approached him near a local optician’s shop, requesting a lift to Kyasampalli.
Gangayya agreed and drove her past Nawab Venture, where she asked him to stop. Two men appeared on the spot, threatened him, and forcibly took ₹28,000 in cash before fleeing.
Based on his complaint, police teams led by CI Narahari, CCS Inspector Srinivas, and SI Usman used surveillance and technical analysis to trace and arrest the suspects.
Investigations revealed the trio – Kadmanchi Lakshmi alias Haimad Bee from Marrigudem (Palwancha), Shaik Javid, and Shaik Abbu from Narasannapalli – had used a similar strategy in previous thefts in Medchal and Devunipalli police station limits.
They were residing in Shabbir Ali Colony, Kamareddy. Police recovered ₹14,770 in cash, a motorbike, and three mobile phones from their possession.
