Hyderabad: A woman arriving from Bangkok was taken into custody at Shamshabad airport after officials recovered hydroponic ganja valued at ₹40 crore from her baggage.
The Narcotics Control Bureau detained the passenger and launched a probe into her links with suspected drug networks. According to initial findings, she confessed to purchasing the ganja in Bangkok and believed air travel would avoid suspicion.
The ganja, cultivated using hydroponic methods, is a high-potency variant in demand in Indian black markets. The woman reportedly told officers she smuggled the consignment due to its high resale value in India.
Investigators are now tracking potential cross-border trafficking routes between Thailand and India.
