Hyderabad: Police in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district have arrested a woman and her lover for allegedly murdering her husband and teenage daughter to cover up an extramarital relationship.
Victim’s paralysis led to affair
According to police, Kavitha, a resident of Vadithala village in Chityal mandal, began an affair with a local youth named Raj Kumar after her husband became paralyzed. The relationship continued secretly until suspicions arose within her family.
Her daughter Varshini confronted her about the affair. On the night of August 2, Kavitha and Raj Kumar allegedly strangled the 17-year-old girl to death. They stuffed her body in a bag and dumped it behind the government hospital on the village outskirts.
Fake missing complaint, then body moved
Days later, on August 6, Kavitha approached the police and filed a missing person complaint, pretending ignorance. However, fearing discovery of the body, she and Raj Kumar retrieved it on August 25, carried it by bike to a forest near Kataram, and dumped it again. They placed an Aadhaar card next to the corpse and staged the scene to appear like a black magic ritual.
Husband murdered two months earlier
Police investigations revealed an even earlier murder. On June 25, while her daughter was away, Kavitha and Raj Kumar allegedly strangled her paralyzed husband. She then informed relatives that he died of health complications, avoiding suspicion.
Based on forensic findings and interrogation, police arrested both Kavitha and Raj Kumar. They have been remanded in judicial custody.
