Hyderabad: Police uncovered a gruesome crime in Shabashpally village, Shivvampet mandal, of Medak district, after a woman and her lover confessed to killing her two-year-old daughter and burying the body three months ago. The incident came to light on Friday when investigators took the duo into custody.
According to police, Mamatha of Shabashpally married Bhaskar of Raipole in Siddipet district five years ago. The couple had two daughters. In March this year, Mamatha returned to her parents’ house with her children after disputes with her husband.

While staying in the village, Mamatha began a relationship with Fayaz, a local resident. On June 7, Mamatha disappeared with her younger daughter Tanusri, and Fayaz also went missing. Mamatha’s father, Raju, then filed a missing complaint at Shivvampet police station.
Investigators later traced Mamatha and Fayaz to Narasaraopet in Guntur district. On interrogation, the duo admitted to murdering Tanusri on June 7 and burying her body on the outskirts of Shabashpally.
Police exhumed the body on Friday in the presence of doctors. They collected samples for forensic examination. Officials said further investigation is underway, and they will brief the media later in the day.
