Hyderabad: A domestic dispute over watching a television serial escalated into a suicide attempt involving a mother and her eight-year-old son in Mahabubabad district on Friday.
The incident took place in a village under Bayyaram mandal. According to family sources, Kavita, the wife of a farmer named Raju, delayed serving dinner on Thursday night because she was watching a television serial. Despite repeated calls from her husband, she responded that she would serve food after the show ended. The exchange led to a heated argument between the couple.
Suicide attempt in Mahabubabad leaves child critical
The tension reportedly continued into Friday morning. After another argument, Raju left for work in the fields. Shortly after, a distraught Kavita consumed pesticide stored at home and forced her son to ingest it as well.
Neighbours rushed to the scene after hearing cries from the house and immediately shifted the mother and child to the government hospital in Mahabubabad. While the woman’s condition has reportedly improved, the child remains in critical condition and has been moved to a private hospital for intensive care.
