HYDERABAD: A 26-year-old woman died by suicide after the man she loved refused to marry her, leading to emotional distress. The incident took place in Anjayanagar, Gachibowli.
According to Rayadurgam Sub-Inspector Ramulu, the deceased was identified as Sultan Begum, a native of Assam, who worked as a waiter at a hotel in Siddiqnagar. The hotel management had also provided her with accommodation in the same locality.
She became acquainted with Syedul Sheikh, 29, from Kolkata, who worked as a waiter at another hotel and lived in the Banjara Basti area of Anjayanagar. The two were in a romantic relationship. However, whenever the topic of marriage came up, Syedul reportedly refused and eventually blocked her phone number.
At around 4:30 am on Thursday, she called him using a friend’s phone, told him that her parents were arranging her marriage, and pleaded with him to marry her. When he rejected her plea, she went to the building where he stayed, reached the fifth floor, and jumped from the top around 5:00 am.
She fell onto a parked car and died on the spot. Police are investigating the case.
