Women journalists meet CP Sajjanar over online trolling, demand action

Hyderabad: Independent journalist Tulasi Chandu and a group of women journalists on Tuesday met Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar to lodge a formal complaint against sustained online trolling and targeted cyber abuse.

During the meeting, the journalists played specific troll videos to the Commissioner, highlighting the harassment and defamatory content circulating online. Sajjanar listened to the details and asked for a full list of troll posts, hate comments, and abusive messages.

Sajjanar promises action after review

Commissioner Sajjanar assured the complainants that strict action would follow a thorough review. “Send me all the details. You’ll see the action we take. I’ll speak once it’s done,” he told the journalists.

The journalists urged police intervention to curb online harassment and sought legal action against repeated offenders. They said online abuse was hampering their safety and professional work.

This marks a growing demand for accountability in digital spaces as women professionals face increasing targeted harassment on social media platforms.
