HYDERABAD: The Telangana Women’s Commission has issued a notice to LB Nagar BRS MLA Sudheer Reddy following allegations of derogatory remarks made against ST woman corporator Sujatha Naik. The Commission has demanded that Reddy appear before them to provide an explanation for his comments.
The incident in question occurred during a foundation stone-laying ceremony, where Reddy reportedly made inappropriate remarks towards corporator Sujatha Naik. In response, GHMC floor leader Darpalli Rajashekhar Reddy, along with other Congress corporators, filed a complaint with Women’s Commission Chairperson Nerella Sharada, urging action against the MLA.
During the complaint proceedings, Sujatha Naik became emotional, expressing that Reddy’s comments were particularly offensive because of her status as an ST woman. The Women’s Commission expressed serious concern over the incident, stating that such behavior towards a constitutionally appointed female corporator is disrespectful to all women.
The Commission has instructed Sudheer Reddy to appear before them and provide an explanation for his remarks, warning of strict action should he fail to comply.
