Hyderabad: Minister for Panchayat Raj Seethakka on Monday said that women’s economic empowerment is a top priority for the Telangana government, which aims to create one crore women millionaires through targeted schemes.
The Minister visited saree production units in Venkataravnagar, Sircilla, operated under the Indira Mahila Shakti scheme. She interacted with the women weavers, listened to their concerns, and sought suggestions to improve their working conditions.
“I have come to Sircilla to observe the saree production under the Indira Mahila Shakti scheme. The workers are seeking year-round employment. I will raise this issue with the Chief Minister and consider potential solutions for providing full employment,” she said.
Seethakka reaffirmed that the State was advancing steadily toward its goal of empowering one crore women financially. She added that economic initiatives such as free bus travel and provisions to help women become bus owners were part of a broader plan to ensure women’s financial independence.
Focus on women’s economic empowerment through state schemes
The Minister’s visit to Sircilla highlighted the government’s ongoing evaluation of grassroots-level implementation of its women-focused economic programmes. By engaging directly with beneficiaries, the government aims to fine-tune its strategies and address employment gaps within these initiatives.
