Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, on Saturday issued yellow and orange alerts for multiple Telangana districts, forecasting light to moderate rainfall over the next few days.
In its latest bulletin, the IMD warned of rain within the next two to three hours in several districts including Bhadradri Kothagudem, Hyderabad, Jangaon, Kamareddy, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Medak, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Mulugu, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Ranga Reddy, Vikarabad, Warangal, and Hanamkonda. All these districts are under a yellow alert.
The IMD placed Nalgonda and Sangareddy districts under an orange alert due to the likelihood of heavier rainfall.
Rain forecast extended over four days
For Sunday, the IMD expects scattered rain in Bhadradri Kothagudem, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mahabubabad, and Mancherial districts.
On Monday, rainfall is likely in Adilabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, and Mulugu.
The weather department also predicted Tuesday rainfall in Adilabad, Hyderabad, Jagtial, Kamareddy, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Medak, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Rajanna Sircilla, Ranga Reddy, Sangareddy, and Vikarabad districts. A yellow alert has been issued for all these regions.
Strong winds expected
The IMD also cautioned that gusty winds, reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kmph, may accompany the rain in some parts of the state.
