Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh marked a milestone on Tuesday as 2,000 yoga enthusiasts performed asanas on boats in the Krishna river near Vijayawada’s Bhairam Park, setting a new world record. Organised under the ‘Yog Andhra’ monthly festival, the unique event, titled ‘Yoga on Water Crafts,’ captivated onlookers and highlighted the natural beauty of the river.

MP Kesineni Nani and several top officials attended the event, adding to the festive spirit. Yoga instructors noted that practising yoga on water boosts balance and mental focus, adding an extra layer of challenge to the ancient discipline.

Dressed in traditional white attire, participants created a striking display of unity and harmony. Special safety arrangements were made, with the boats carefully positioned to ensure participants’ well-being. NGOs, local yoga organisations, and the district administration played a vital role in making the event a success.

Beyond promoting physical health, the festival also aimed to position Andhra Pradesh as a global hub for yoga. Organisers expressed their intention to hold even bigger events in the coming years, showcasing yoga’s blend of nature, spirituality, and wellness on the waters of the Krishna river.
