Hyderabad: Telangana’s flagship initiative for youth employment and skill development is taking final shape. IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu on Tuesday announced that the permanent campus of the Young India Skills University will be formally inaugurated on December 9.
The campus, located at Mir Khanpet in Kandukur mandal of Ranga Reddy district, is currently under rapid construction. Reviewing the progress on-site, Sridhar Babu directed officials and representatives of the contractor agency to ensure the timely completion of all works.
“Academic blocks, labs, hostels, and administrative buildings will all be completed in time for the formal launch,” he said. The project, he added, symbolises the government’s dual commitment to industrial growth and employment generation.
The university, which is currently operating temporarily from Gachibowli, offers programmes in pharma, retail, logistics, aviation, and airport management. “We promised skill development before elections. We’re delivering it, step by step,” the Minister stated.
Without naming names, Sridhar Babu took a swipe at critics, saying some opposition leaders were resorting to slander despite knowing that long-term development takes time. “This campus is part of our vision to turn the region into a Future City, built on global standards for future generations,” he added.
Plans are also underway to set up a temporary office for the proposed Future City Authority at the same location in Mir Khanpet. District-level skill centres will be rolled out across Telangana to shape the state into a national hub for skilled youth.
Present during the review were Vice-Chancellor Subbarao, Registrar Sudhakar, RDO Jagadishwar Reddy, and Congress leaders Deep Bhaskar Reddy, Enugu Jangareddy, Bokka Jangareddy, Krishnanaik, Panduranga Reddy, and Mallesh.
In alignment with our government’s vision to position Telangana as a leading hub for skilled human capital, I’m happy to announce the establishment of “Skills Training Centers” in every district headquarters as part of the Young India Skills University initiative.
