Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu has called upon district administrations to mobilise their full strength behind the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam scheme, which he described as a transformative initiative aimed at empowering youth and fuelling Telangana’s economic engine.
Speaking during a video conference with district collectors on Wednesday evening, Bhatti said the state government was investing Rs 8,000 crore to generate employment for five lakh youth. “We are not merely offering financial aid. We are investing trust in the energy and talent of our young people. If this succeeds, it will bring light into their lives and boost the state’s GDP,” he said.
Joined by Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, the Deputy CM emphasised that Rajiv Yuva Vikasam, unlike past schemes that were pushed through corporations without depth, was born out of the people’s mandate. He urged officials to treat the programme with the seriousness it deserves.
The scheme, designed after months of deliberation by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Bhatti, Prabhakar and former Finance Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, is seen as a critical intervention to restore hope among Telangana’s disenchanted youth.
Bhatti instructed collectors to appoint special officers at the mandal level to monitor implementation and ensure beneficiaries are not just funded but guided. “If a young entrepreneur hits a hurdle, our job doesn’t end with disbursing money. We must help them get back on track,” he said.
To mark the formal launch, the government has scheduled a mass distribution of sanction letters on June 2 between 4 and 5 PM at all constituency headquarters. MLAs are expected to attend as chief guests, with cultural programmes lined up to showcase the state’s development agenda.
He also stressed that the selection of beneficiaries must align with laws enacted for SC welfare, and that allocations under the BC Corporation should reflect the community’s demographic proportion.
Praising the efforts of Social Welfare Principal Secretary Sridhar, BC Welfare Secretary Sridhar, Tribal Welfare Secretary Sharath, and heads of various corporations, Bhatti said their commitment had brought the scheme to the brink of execution. “With the same dedication, we can meet every single objective we’ve set,” he added.
